Our ambition is to enable a more competitive and sustainable meat and livestock sector.
To support this ambition, the Livestock Information Service (LIS) will eventually replace all the three existing livestock movement services. ARAMS for sheep, goats and deer has now moved to LIS with cattle (BCMS) and pigs (eAML2) following. The aim is to create a single, modern and efficient Livestock Information Service for all species. This change alone will make livestock record management simpler and more convenient.
In time, the Livestock Information Service aims to become an important national tool that enables industry and government to:
- Better control chronic endemic livestock diseases
- Terminate exotic disease outbreaks quickly and effectively
- Drive positive changes in productivity and sustainability
- Develop a competitive trade advantage by building trade partner and consumer confidence in the provenance of British meat and livestock products
